Welcome to the Church of Saint Mary's North Creake

Jeremy Whigham StMNC 1000px

Welcome to St Mary’s, the parish church of North Creake, where for over seven hundred years villagers have gathered to praise God. We are a parish church in The Church of England and The Diocese of Norwich.

We are part of The Benefice of North Creake, South Creake with Waterden, Syderstone with Barmer, and Sculthorpe.

Our Rector is The Reverend Clive Wylie who was instituted to the Benefice on 3 May 2012.

Our style of worship is traditional and we use the Book of Common Prayer for our regular services and the Revised Version of the King James Bible for our readings.

We are a Corporate Member of The Prayer Book Society which promotes use of the BCP in England and of whom The Prince of Wales is Patron.  The Society publishes much useful information which is available on their website here.

The usual service pattern is:

First Sunday of the month: Evensong at 5pm

Third Sunday of the month: Holy Communion at 8:30am

Please check the calendar on the right for full details.

Our beautiful church, built in the 13th and 14th centuries, is first and foremost a living place of worship but we invite you to admire its beauty and the ambition of its builders.

With its impressive tower commanding the road, the magnificent hammer beam nave roof, the Perpendicular period windows, the Charles I Royal Coat of Arms of 1653 over the north door, the glorious chancel roof sympathetically restored in the 19th century, the fine organ installed in the early 20th century, through to our recently recast and augmented ring of eights bells, you can trace the generosity and dedication of North Creakers to their village church over the years.

Our patron is Earl Spencer in whose family this privilege has remained since Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough, acquired it along with much of the land in the parish in the early 1700s.

Rejoice with us who have the good fortune to call this our church and have the privilege of worshipping here and caring for it. We ask you to join your prayers to ours that fill this church. Do come and visit and come into the presence of God in this place and take his blessing with you when you leave.

    Revelation 3
1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. 2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
